SPAN Idaho Annual Suicide Prevention Conference
SPAN Idaho is committed to bringing together survivors, professionals, advocates and others to learn and share about suicide prevention. The Annual SPAN Idaho Suicide Prevention Conference is one way this is accomplished. The conference brings talented and experienced national, state and local presenters to speak on a large variety of topics related to suicide prevention and postvention. It provides an opportunity for participants from around the state to share their activities and learn from one another. Conference attendees can learn about the latest research in the field and gain strategies to implement back in their own communities. Most importantly, participants leave the conference knowing that they are not alone in their efforts to save lives in Idaho and having more tools with which to do it.
New in 2007, SPAN Idaho began alternating conference years between one statewide conference and the three regional suicide prevention conferences. In odd numbered years, the SPAN regional chapters will hold conferences in three locations around the state. In 2007, successful conferences were held in Lewiston, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. In even numbered years, SPAN Idaho will hold the statewide conference in the Treasure Valley bringing together interested persons from all over the state. There are several advantages in this alternating conference system including providing suicide prevention information and resources closer to our rural communities one year and bringing together stakeholders from throughout Idaho to share and learn from each other the next year.
